Old Redhead’s Watermelon Basil Rum Cocktail
A light, refreshing rum cocktail with fresh watermelon, basil and just enough alcohol to make your face glow.

  • 4 cups seedless watermelon cubed
  • 1/2 cup packed fresh basil
  • 8 oz rum I used Bacardi Gold
  • sugar for the rim
  • cubed watermelon (optional)
  • lime for garnish (optional)
  1. Chiffonade the basil
  2. Add basil and watermelon to your blender. Purèè until smoothe.
  3. Strain into pitcher or mason jar.
  4. Add rum and stir.
  5. Wet the rim of your glass and dip in sugar.
  6. Add watermelon cubes if you're going that route.
  7. Pour and serve.

This recipe makes 6 to 8 cocktails depending on the size of your glass and the weight of your pour.
