Welcome to Saucy Saturday’s No 11! What did you whip up this week?
Believe it or not, I’m still on my son’s iPad. Good news: The computer doctor thinks my MacAir can be fixed. Bad News: They had to order the part.
I admit I was pretty annoyed at first. But then I had to laugh at how accustomed I’ve become to not having to wait for anything. Especially living in in NYC. But it’s not like I’m twelve years old. Most of my life, I had to wait. For pictures to be developed. For the library to be open so I could do research. For the bank to be open so I could cash a check. Remember checks???
I’ve conveniently forgotten all about that. Now I need everything yesterday.
On the plus side, this forced hiatus has given me more time to play in the kitchen. I’ve been cooking, testing and re-testing to my heart’s delight. I’ve also had more time to read. I’m currently devouring Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain. I’m highly amused by his brash style and vivid and engaging stories. He’s pulled some ballsy antics. I’ve been caught reading with my mouth open more than once! He’s also sold me on buying a mandolin and convinced me never to order the “seafood special” again anywhere evenatthebestrestaurantever.
