In a breakfast rut? Snap out of it!
I’m still eating my face off in the Netherlands but you’re in excellent hands today. Sweet, ooey, gooey, fluffy and sometimes even healthy hands. I beg of you. Don’t be content to just sit back and watch. Treat yourself to one…or two…or all of these morning delights.
Nutty Whole Grain Waffles with Blueberry Compote from Vanilla and Bean. I’m all over fruit compotes these days and I love the healthy flours Traci uses in here. Also, these waffles have no yeast…which means no wait. Just mix ’em and make ’em.
Honey, Cinnamon and Cointreau Dutch Baby from The Gourmet Project. The orange zest, the cinnamon, the honey sauce…Claudia suggests it for brunch, which I think is a great idea. You’re going to want a decent chunk of time to relax and enjoy this baby.
Vegan Carrot Cake Pancakes from Veggie Inspired. I am a big fan of carrot cake but the thing about this recipe that really hooked me is the sweet cashew cream cheese. That could easily become something I make to have on hand for whenever that sweet tooth hits me. It’s a beautiful thing when delicious and healthy come together like that.
Lemon Sour Cream Waffles from Dinner at the Zoo. Just imagining what the sour cream does to the texture of these waffles gets me half way to nirvana. Add lemon to that? Bliss. And Sarah’s suggestion to top with lemon curd and fresh berries is spot on.
The Secret to Perfect Buttermilk Pancakes from Scratch from Fox Valley Foodie. This post is full of helpful hints to boost your breakfast game. Careful, though. Become too much of a pro and you may want breakfast 24/7. Oh, wait. Why is that a problem again?
Chocolate Chip Banana Oat Waffles from Food, Pleasure and Health. I was intrigued by the oat flour in these waffles and Dixya actually tells you how to make it yourself. Love that! Sounds super easy. According to Dixya, these come out breadier than most waffles which she seems dissatisfied with but, I think, sounds delicious.
Red Lentil Waffles with Rosemary Pomegranate Syrup from Eat Thrive Glow. This one requires a little forethought because you have to soak the lentils and rice overnight. But after that, it’s pretty simple. And you get a delicious gluten free, vegan, protein packed breakfast. And that syrup sounds off the charts!
Homemade Fluff Chocolate Pancake Tower from Tinned Tomatoes. I don’t need to say it BUTIWILL. That. Fluff. Though! And without all those nasty preservatives. Fluff. It’s not just for breakfast anymore. At least around here, it’s not.
Raspberry Buttermilk Waffles from Giraffes Can Bake. Iknowright?!? The raspberries are inside the waffles!! And outside, of course. Wherever the heck you want them. There are no rules (as long as they end up in your mouth.) And can we just have a moment for Michelle’s styling in this photo? I love the colors. I really just want to dive right into that plate.
White Chocolate Chip Macadamia Nut Pancakes from Plating Pixels. We all know I love macadamia nuts and they are a classic combo with white chocolate. But what separates this recipe from the crowd? The orange butter. Easy to make. No special equipment required. But it elevates your breakfast from normal to special. Who doesn’t want that?
Baked French Toast with Whipped Greek Yogurt and Candied Chai Pecans from A Side of Sweet. Here’s a bonus breakfast. It’s not a waffle. Nor a pancake. But how can you be a stickler in the face of such deliciousness? Those nuts!!
I’ll be back from The Netherlands soon and full of recipes and stories to share. Can’t wait to catch up!
