Not your average spinach smoothie. Vegan, refined sugar free, full of antioxidants and laced with the smooth bass notes of black tea. It may not be easy being green but it’s certainly delicious.

But with so many spinach smoothie recipes out there, I had to make sure mine was a little bit different. Otherwise, why bother?
How did I do this? I added tea.
This isn’t the first tea infused smoothie on Mid-Life Croissant. I have a whole page full of them. But it is my first green smoothie. And it’s my first smoothie recipe since becoming an affiliate for Kusmi Tea.
I’ve had a lot of tea in my life. And it’s not just for the flavor. I’m intrigued by its ancient and mysterious culture. I’m a sucker for drama.
Kusmi Tea was started in Russia in the late 1800s and opened workshops in London, Paris and Berlin at the height of its popularity in the 1920s. So they’ve been blending tea for a long time. They offer all your favorite classics like Earl Grey, Darjeeling and English Breakfast. Plus some unique recipes like the closely kept secret blend Anastasia an Earl Grey blend created by Pavel Kousmichoff himself (the founder of Kusmi Tea) and, my favorite, Karavan N ° 50 which is a fragrant blend of Asian black teas and the smoothest, subtlest black tea I’ve ever tasted.
Mellow Karavan N°50 is the perfect backdrop for the tropical earthiness of mango and the mild grassiness of spinach. This smoothie goes down super easy and is packed full of antioxidants from both the spinach and the black tea. It’s got good fiber in it too, which can be increased further by adding chia seeds on top.
Other garnish options I enjoy are goji berries and cacao nibs. But it’s perfectly awesome all on its own, too.
As a side note, I would be remiss in ending this post without showing you Kusmi’s gorgeous packaging.
